In recent years, the market for mobile health apps, also known as “mHealth apps”, has experienced significant growth in Belgium. However, while fostering innovation is a core objective of both the legal framework for placing medical apps on the market and their reimbursement procedure, the opposite seems to be increasingly the case. This contribution will examine whether this legal framework and reimbursement procedure, from the manufacturer’s perspective, actually achieve this essential goal in Belgium.
